Dehradun, 05 June. The Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA), Dehradun, organized a Special Lecture on the occasion of World Environment Day at the Hari Singh Auditorium. Shri Bhaskar Khulbe, IAS (Retd.), former Secretary, PMO and Adviser to the Prime Minister of India delivered the special lecture as the chief guest. The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address and introduction of the distinguished speaker. He also planted a sapling on this occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Bhaskar Khulbe shared valuable insights on environmental governance, sustainable development, and the role of public institutions in addressing contemporary environmental challenges. Drawing from his vast experience in public administration and policymaking, he emphasized the importance of balancing conservation objectives with developmental aspirations. He highlighted the need for innovative approaches to environmental management, community participation, and responsible stewardship of natural resources.

Shri Khulbe also spoke about his involvement in initiatives related to plastic waste management in eco-sensitive zones and sustainable development planning in the Himalayan region, including the reconstruction efforts at Kedarnath and Badrinath. He underscored the significance of environmental leadership and encouraged the probationers to uphold the values of integrity, commitment, and public service throughout their careers.

Smt. Bharati, the Director of IGNFA, faculty members, and probationers expressed their gratitude to Shri Khulbe for sharing his experiences and perspectives. The lecture provided an enriching opportunity for the probationers to learn from a distinguished civil servant whose career exemplifies dedication to nation-building, governance reforms, and environmental sustainability.

The programme concluded with an interactive session, where probationers engaged with the speaker on issues related to environmental conservation, governance, climate resilience, and sustainable development.

The event formed part of IGNFA’s continued efforts to expose future forest officers to diverse perspectives and inspire them to contribute effectively towards the conservation and sustainable management of India’s natural resources.

The occasion was well attended by the Indian Forest Service (IFS) Probationers, faculty members of IGNFA and CASFoS Dehradun, officers, staff, and distinguished guests.
